 Armory Museum and Diamond Fund

Almazniy fondThe Armory and the Diamond Fund are located in the same building on the territory of the Moscow Kremlin. It has been functioning as a museum since 1806. The Armory was founded to manufacture and store weapons, imperial arms and regalia for the royal court. Later it also produced jewellery, icon frames and embroidery.

There are art objects and artifacts, both made in local workshops and gift embassies of other countries. The Diamond Fund is an impressively large exhibition of masterpieces of jewelry art. The best samples of the collection are dated XVIII-XX centuries. In addition, the exhibition presents precious stones and nuggets with a rich history.

St Basil's Church

St Basils CathedralOrthodox church on the Red Square in Moscow, a monument of Russian architecture. Construction of the cathedral was carried out from 1555 to 1561.

The cathedral unites eleven churches, part of which was consecrated in honor of the saints, whose memory days fell on decisive battles for Kazan. The central church was built in honor of the Protection of the Blessed Virgin, around which separate churches are grouped in honor of: the Holy Trinity, the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem, Nikola the Great, Three Patriarchs: Alexander, John and Paul the New, Gregory of Armenia, Cyprian and Justina, Alexander Svirsky and Varlaam Khutynsky, located on one base, as well as the chapel in honor of St. Basil, after whom the church received the second, more famous name, and the Church of St. John, reopened after a long desolation in November 2018.  More photos.. Novodevichy Convent

novodevThe Novodevichy Convent is one of the most beautiful monasteries in Moscow, today it belongs to the Historical Museum. But the services in the temples are also held. As it can often be found in the capital, the historical heritage in the form of a museum part and a spiritual component harmoniously coexist in one place. In addition to all this, it is just very pleasant to be on the territory of the monastery, to stroll and contemplate.
This monastery was built in 1524 by Grand Duke Basil III on a vow in honor of the return of ancient Smolensk to the Moscow principality. And they consecrated the monastery in the name of the miraculous Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God.


Museum-Reserve Tsaritsyno

Museum Reserve TsaritsynoThe Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve is a palace and park ensemble in the south of Moscow, built at the behest of Empress Catherine II in 1776. The Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve, occupying an area of ​​more than 100 hectares, is located on a hilly, rugged area, on the site of the former estate of the princes Kantemirov. The territory of the ensemble and park is bounded from the north-east and south by two deep ravines, from the west by Tsaritsyn ponds, and from the east by a complex of greenhouses.
Tsaritsyno is the most important monument of the so-called "Russian Gothic" (pseudo-gothic). Over the course of 20 years, two of the most famous architects of their era, Vasily Bazhenov and Matvey Kazakov, worked on the creation of the imperial residence. Kolomna Palace

Kolomna PalaceKolomna Palace of Russian Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich - one of the most interesting and significant sights of Moscow with a long history. For a long time, the small village of Kolomenskoye near Moscow was chosen by the Russian tsars as a place where they could relax and hunt. Today Kolomenskoye has become part of overgrown Moscow, and the territory of the palace with the park belongs to the “State Architectural Museum-Reserve”. Here, on the territory of four hundred hectares, there is not one Kolomna Palace, but many other historical buildings: ancient monasteries, beautiful churches, the house of Peter the Great, which, disassembled, was transported here from Arkhangelsk, the tsar Fedor Alekseevich's mansion. The reserve includes the park and the virgin nature of these places: ravines and forests stretching to the magnificent embankment of the Moscow River, which allows tourists to get to the royal palace on one of the pleasure boats.   More photos... The Bolshoi Theatre

bolshoj teatrThe main opera stage of the country and one of the best theaters in the world. The theater was built in 1825, but in 1853 the building burned down. Three years later, Big rebuilt. Large-scale reconstruction was carried out in 1886-1893, in 1958 and in 2005-2011. The monumental building of the theater is decorated with massive columns, the interior is striking luxury. The crystal chandelier in the main auditorium deserves special attention.

State Tretyakov Gallery

In 1861, in his testament, Pavel Tretyakov transferred the family gallery to the city and determined the sums of money for its maintenance. In 1893, the museum officially opened to the public. Ostankino TV Tower

Ostankino TV towerA television tower is another important symbol of the capital. The tower provides television broadcasting throughout Russia, there are television studios and offices of the main channels. In height, the structure reaches 540 meters. The Ostankino tower was built between 1963-1967, in those days it was considered the tallest building in Europe. The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts

Victory Park on Poklonnaya Hill

Victory Park on Poklonnaya HillPark complex with memorials dedicated to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. Before starting construction in 1987, the hill on Poklonnaya Hill was partially demolished. The park officially opened in 1995. The central monument is an obelisk crowned with a statue of the goddess Nika, 141.8 meters in height. In 2009-2010 the Eternal Fire burned here, transferred for the period of reconstruction from the Alexander Garden.

Sparrow Hills

Sparrow HillsThe Vorobyovy Gory is considered the main observation deck of Moscow, from where a view of the valley of the Moscow River, the Luzhniki Stalinist skyscrapers and Moscow City skyscrapers opens. Nearby is the building of Moscow State University. The Sparrow Hills Park Zone is a great place for walking, cycling and rollerblading, jogging. For many years, Moscow bikers have been gathering near the observation deck.

Moscow subway

Moscow metro1The largest metro in the territory of the former USSR. The first line was launched in 1935, it connected Sokolniki and Park Kultury. Currently, 15 lines have been laid with a length of almost 400 km. Of the 230 active stations, 48 are recognized as objects of cultural heritage of Russia. The design of some halls of the metro resembles museums, there are guided tours, including night ones.
